Well then, we’ll certainly be hearing a lot about this one. After UEFA changes the rules, trying to get the big teams in to the world cup, Ireland fought like soldiers today, and were minutes away from taking one of the most formidable forces in world football to penalties…..all to decide who would go to the biggest sporting event on earth. Guess what happened? 15 minutes away from penalties, Thierry Henry (Yep typical arsenal player) handles the ball blatantly in the Ireland box and then passes it on for a French player to score.
Again, a smaller team gets absolutely robbed by the officials, and UEFA as a whole. You will never see a more obvious infringement….yet against Ireland…it stands. The game isn’t even over yet, but I bet UEFA officials are pleased with the result so far.

ReplyDeleteIt was sickening to watch. Ireland had given so much and to bow out like that was painful.
I liked the way they composed themselves afterwards...shaking hands and congratulating the French.
They showed quite a bit of class all things considered.
